Dad Dancing: OMG! Does the sight of your dad’s bad dancing make you cringe?
Take your embarrassing dad to dance rehab in Jamaica!
If your dad insists on showing his bad moves at every opportunity, it’s time to consider rehab. But as we say in Jamaica, ‘chillax’ and enter to win a family trip to Jamaica that includes a remedy for badly dancing dads – lessons that will transform his moves, from creepy to Gully Creepa!
Jamaica is the home of reggae, dancehall and the latest bangin’ beats, so there’s no better place to get his groove back (if he had one in the first place).
Just upload a video of your dad’s worst dance moves and you’re in with a chance to have fun at Beaches Negril, care of Virgin Holidays and Jamaica Tourist Board. While you’re zip-lining through the rainforest, bobsledding ‘Cool Runnings’ style and swimming with dolphins, dad will be hard at work trying to get his ‘mojo’ rolling. So suck up the shame and get filming now; show your old man’s moves ‘To Di World’ and ‘Tek Weh Yuhself’ to Jamaica!
To enter the competition, upload evidence of your badly dancing dad to www.totallydaddancing.com. The top ten most viewed videos will be shortlisted and Kiss 100 Breakfast Show host Rickie Haywood-Williams will choose the final winner based on the funniest video and dad most in need of dance rehab.
Videos of the offending dance moves will also appear on YouTube, and the campaign can be followed on Twitter.com/DadDancing, on Facebook.com/DadDancing and on Bebo.com/DadDancing.
As well as being the ideal place for dad to finally find his rhythm, Beaches Resort and Spa in Negril, Jamaica offers an array of activities for the rest of the family too. For teens, there’s an XBOX 360 Game Garage, brand new Scratch DJ Academy, Club Liquid nightclub (under 21s) and the new Trench Town lounge. There’s also a huge water park with three pools and a Red Lane Spa – all set on the stunning Seven Mile Beach. For the younger ones, there’s the cool Kids Camp where they can dance with the gang from Sesame Street®.
Prizes for the runners-up include iPod nanos in the Jamaican colours of red, gold and green and a box set of Jamaican sounds.

Jamaica is first past the post for adrenaline junkies
Jamaica is not only home to some of the fastest athletes in the world but also some of the most exciting adrenaline rushes and soft adventure activities too. Jamaica wins hands down in the Caribbean for a choice of activities that even the most hardened adrenaline junkie might tire of. Relaxing on the beach is not everyone’s idea of holiday heaven so Jamaica’s exhilarating and fun activities are a perfect way of seeing more of the island as well as having a great time.
John Lynch, Director of Tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board noted: “The Jamaican combination of relaxation, healthy diet and adventure is a winning formula for our athletes and will I’m sure appeal to visitors keen on personal fitness. Leaving their stress and anxiety at home, holidaymakers can experience our relaxed lifestyle firsthand and hopefully feel the healthy benefits for themselves.”
He added: “Our adrenaline adventures in water, through the air or on land range from fast paced tubing or kayaking down the river, to canopy ziplining amongst the treetops and the thrill of off-road buggy driving around the mountains at 1200 feet above sea level.”
Chukka Caribbean Adventures operates some of the wildest and most fun-filled excursions including quad-biking safaris, 4×4 adventure safaris and even a Jamaica dog-sled experience when you can be a ‘musher’ for the day with your own set of ‘huskies’, specially trained rescue dogs. For an ultimate thrill, the ‘Jam Speed Rally Experience’ is a heart stopping drive with a professional rally driver – try the 3 hour ‘Adrenaline Rush Adventure’ or a full blown ‘Rally Spring Raid’.
The popular Mystic Mountain attraction located in Ocho Rios is perfect for visitors seeking a thrill as they can soar up the mountain on the Rainforest Sky Explorer or skim through the tree tops high above Jamaica’s tropical landscape on the Rainforest Zip Line. When you reach the top station, 700 feet above sea level, catch your brief and enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Ocho Rios with its tropical landscape before having a go on the Jamaica bobsled coaster ride which races through the forest, ‘Cool Running’ style.
Jamaica’s well known resident fitness fanatic ‘Mr Motivator’ operates ‘H’evans Scent’, a family run activity centre situated in the beautiful St Ann Hills overlooking Ocho Rios. Harnessed up visitors can fly across the valley on a zipwire with views of the coastline or enjoy a thrilling quadbike ride on the mountainside.
For those who prefer to see the beautiful island of Jamaica at a slower pace of life there is also horseriding through the waves on a stunning sandy beach, relaxing on a bamboo river raft, walking up the famous Dunns River Falls or swimming with dolphins.
River rafting on bamboo rafts takes a leisurely route down the scenic Martha Brae River. Here, visitors can sit back and take in the tropical scenery of the riverbank whilst their guide punts down the river on a 90-minute journey, explaining the natural habitat that surrounds them including wild orchids growing in the trees or nests of different exotic birds.
Dunn’s River Falls located near Ocho Rios, is one of Jamaica’s national treasures and is truly one of the most beautiful spots on the island. As one of the only waterfalls in the world that falls directly into the sea, it is no wonder that this has become a major attraction for Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean. Visitors can climb the falls in a human chain led by experienced guides and can even pause at the ‘Massage Parlour’, sitting in any of the various lagoons to experience the soothing effects of the water as it cascades over the rocks.
Visitors to Dolphin Cove can enjoy a number of unforgettable experiences such as swimming with dolphins and sharks, taking a glass-bottom kayak ride to explore the spectacular marine life or interacting with exotic birds, snakes and iguanas on the Jungle Trail Walk.
The Kool Runnings Waterpark in the laid back resort of Negril is a fun filled day out for the whole family with 10 exhilarating water slides to choose from, a charming lazy river, adventure playground ‘Captain Mikie’s Coconut Island’ as well as fast-paced go-karting and bungee trampolining. Slowing the pace down completely is the Kool Kanoe Swamp Adventure Tour offering a peaceful, relaxing and scenic ride through the canals of the Great Morass.

Jamaica embraces sports tourism with homegrown talent and international events
Jamaica’s sporting excellence took to the world stage in August this year when Usain Bolt smashed two world records for the 100m and 200m sprints.
Jamaican Minister for Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett said: ‘The impact of Usain Bolt breaking the world records is inestimable. Bolt’s momentous achievements, along with those of his fellow compatriots during the IAAF Championships in Berlin, has given sports tourism in Jamaica a shot in the arm. The Jamaica Tourist Board and the Ministry of Tourism are now actively pursuing plans for strengthening the links between sports and tourism.’
Recently awarded Jamaica’s fourth highest honour, the Order of Jamaica, Bolt is also set to become an appointed ambassador-at-large and to be accorded full diplomatic status. In addition, the Jamaican government will rename Highway 2000, Jamaica’s high speed expressway, the Usain Bolt Highway in honour of the track star.
In addition to promoting the excellence of its athletics stars, the Jamaica Tourist Board is also engaged in a number of other marketing initiatives to promote sports tourism. The JTB is working closely with sports tour operator Edwin Doran Sports Travel, one of the UK’s largest sports tour operators, on a cricket familiarisation trip for British school teachers from the UK and Ireland. The party will fly into Montego Bay visiting various schools, cricket training facilities and local attractions with a view to sending school groups to Jamaica for cricket camps in 2010.
For the second year running the Jamaica Tourist Board is sponsoring a yacht in the prestigious Clipper Round The World Yacht Race. The Jamaica yacht has been officially endorsed by Usain Bolt and was named at the start of the race, Jamaica Lightning Bolt. Bolt commented ‘I am honoured to have the Jamaican Clipper named after me. I’m sure the crew will receive a warm welcome in Port Antonio next May and get a chance to experience our beaches, waterfalls, rainforests and exciting attractions. I wish Jamaica Lightning Bolt all the speed in the world’.
As well at the many spectator sports on offer in Jamaica including: cricket, athletics, netball and golf, the island offers the chance to participate in some leading sporting events. The following events are open to visitors and encourage international participation.
