Beat World Cup Blues - "Try" Sevens in Heaven

New Zealand's undiscovered neighbour, The Cook Islands prepares itself to host "Sevens in Heaven" from 3 November to 5 November 2011. Visitors will experience an intense show of fierce prowess and skill as 16 men's teams and 6 women's teams take part in the English game on an island paradise. The event brings the sporting expertise on display in the world cup to Polynesian shores.

Though it originates from England, Rugby is beloved by Cook Islanders who have very much adopted the sport as part of their culture.

Carmel Beattie, CEO of Cook Island Tourism says:

"The Sevens In Heaven Tournament underlines the respect The Cook Islands has for the sport. The islanders enjoy rugby from a young age and play it with great passion and camaraderie. We welcome visitors from around the world to both play and watch this sporting event.

"As part of our varied and stimulating 2011 events calendar, the Sevens in Heaven helps to highlight the Cook Islands as a destination that encapsulates sports tourism, colourful culture, community and responsibility, as well as a beautiful, beach-holiday destination."

A must for any aspiring rugby player, the Cook Islands Sevens is sure to be showcasing some great young talent as well as some high-profile veterans from around the area. Ex-All Black legend, Jonah Lomu is just one of those who played the Cook Islands Sevens tournament in his early career. With some of the up-and-coming players of the future partaking and used to garnering international coverage, the Sevens in Heaven is likely to become the next rugby "social-event", following in the footsteps of the famous Hong Kong Sevens.
