Flights to Budapest from £99 on sale from 11 – 12 August 2010

ENGLAND will play their first international football match of the 2010/11 season against Hungary at Wembley on 11 August and to celebrate Malév Hungarian Airlines (www.malev.uk.com) is running a 24 hour flight sale on the Gatwick to Budapest route.

Flights will be up for grabs from just £99, including all airport taxes and charges on their web site www.malev.uk.com/specialoffer.html from 14.00 on 11 August 2010 until 13.59 on 12 August 2010.

The travel period is from 15 September 2010 until 28 February 2011 (excluding the period 12 December 2010 to 10 January 2011. This fare is subject to availability so the sooner people go online the more chance they will have of securing the best fare.

See the work of Italian futurist painter, Depero in Budapest until 22 August

The Italian futurist painter, graphic artist and designer, Fortunato Depero (1892-1960) has his works displayed at the Buda Castle from 4 June to 22 August, giving art lovers the chance to see more than 100 pieces on loan from MART (Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art of  Trento & Rovereto) in Italy.  Depero was part of the futurist movement which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2009, and over the past 20 years there has been increasing interest in his varied work, which includes paintings, colour textiles and advertisement designs (including pieces for Campari, Vogue and Vanity Fair).  For more information visit the web site for the Hungarian National Gallery at www.mng.hu Read more

Hungary’s first Michelin star

Costes, located in Budapest’s Ráday Street, is the first Hungarian restaurant to achieve a Michelin star rating in the 2010 edition of its guide to the Main Cities of Europe. Only two restaurants in the Central European region hold this accolade – the first being the Allegro, Four Seasons in Prague. Read more
